looking at this object, makes me feel like there's little difference between this and a piece of marble. To look at, the feeling is very similar. Both are beautiful but lifeless. What meaning can I glean from this enormous object that I can't from a relatively small one that has a similar visual presentation?

It doesn't help when companies produce products that can't be repaired, or costs too much to have them repaired rendering them as disposable items. And, I thought about this yesterday...wouldn't it be nice that if the places that can take these items, break them down and recycle the parts...were more prolific and convenient to get to?
That is one thing that I wish we could return to..when things could be repaired and lasted longer. My neighborhood is all rentals, from apartments to duplexes. My small apartment complex has a dumpster and there is always a vacuum cleaner or TV out there by it. And it doesn't come from the apartment complex, but from others in the neighborhood. It's illegal to dump TVs in the trash. There are very few places that will take these items and it's a trip to get there.
@Caiotekit @chrisU Had our washing machine break down recently. $100 just to come out and look at it. The hinges were obviously broken, but do I want to spend $400 to repair a 15 year old washer, when a new one costs $700-$900? Our economy lives and dies on consumption and repairable durable goods get in the way of profits. Bought a new one and getting it installed cost $300 because the old hose connector had to be sawed off. 😫
@Runyan50 @Caiotekit @chrisU we had used, refurbished appliances from a local store that lasted years. Finally replaced both the washer and dryer and it's just not the same (the new ones work okay but they're total light weights) 🤷♀️

@Jackobli Wenn schon 50% Spam ist, dann hat es halt keinen Platz mehr für weitere 50% IPv6 😉.
Mein lokaler ISP bietet kein v6 an, ausser man bittet, in die Betaumgebung aufgenommen zu werden (die vorherige (Falsch-)Aussage war, dass ihr Konfigurationsmanagement das nicht könne…).
Es gibt auch Firmen, die sich mit IPv6 schwertun und sogar aktuelle Sicherheitsprodukte von grossen Herstellern, die nicht mit v6 umgehen können.
Und auch Dinge wie Docker behandeln v6 stiefmütterlich.
@tschaefer @rapha3l Ich suche eine Aufteilung nach Protokollen (Layer 4/7) im Backbone (oder bei einem Access-Netzwerk). Beides gibt mir Cloudflare nicht (als CDN bekommen sie ja hauptsächlich HTTP(S) und DNS, noch etwas NTP etc.) und sie scheinen auch das nicht weiter aufzuschlüsseln.
(Schlussendlich geht es mir darum, welcher Verkehr eigentlich noch unverschlüsselte Anteile hat, aber das dürfte z.T. dann erst der zweite Schritt sein.)

I would love to see the non-443 remainder of the traffic; among other things to get an estimate of what part of traffic is still plaintext (I know, that will probably require other data sources as well, but at least helps prioritize that part of the research).
Coincidentally I have begun asking around for this too recently. Lots of research and education nets used to have public flows data pages (e.g. wisc, i2). I did two of them (archived links below).
The data is often still there, but alas as all the old netops have moved on, security concerns have seemingly trumped the willingness to make it public now.
Some IXes (e.g., seattleix.net/statistics/) and big content providers have some, but we seem to lack the diverse edge view today. Hoping followers see this and prove me wrong.
